Travelers, searching for a vacation to celebrate a special occasion or need a list of spur-of-the-moment getaway locations, can get a head start at Marine Corps Community Services’ Information, Tickets and Tours 18th annual Travel and Recreation Trade Show, March 16.
The free show, open to all base personnel, retirees and their family members, will be held at Thomason Gymnasium from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. aboard Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany.

In an announcement handed down by Military Spouse Magazine, Aikens, military spouse/administrative assistant, Family Advocacy Program, Marine Corps Community Services, MCLB Albany, was voted in by her peers, making her the installation’s second MSOY in two consecutive years.

A large oak tree located outside Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany’s Main Gate is affectionately known as “Dubber’s Oak.” The historical landmark is named after Col. A.E. Dubber, who from March 1951 to July 1955, was in charge of planning and construction of the Marine Corps Depot of Supplies, Albany, Ga. He was insistent that the construction of the depot be aligned on this oak tree.

Turner Job Corps students participate in their annual Job Shadow Day visit to Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany, recently. Each year, Marine Depot Maintenance Command, Albany, Ga., hosts several students in the maintenance and heavy equipment trades. Job Shadowing Day gives students an opportunity to see professionals in a variety of career fields perform their daily work activities and allows the host to answer any questions the students may have.
Michael A. Davis, career technical training manager, Turner Job Corps, Albany, Ga., said through job shadowing, students are able to observe firsthand how the skills they learn in the classrooms are used in the workplace.
“Volunteer mentors provide opportunities to demonstrate on-the-job skills and highlight their organizations' businesses to young people who will soon join the workforce,” Davis said. “Students also receive greater exposure to new jobs and exciting careers and are able to expand their network of employers.”
