July 1, 2015 --
Colonel insignia were carefully pinned on the lapels of Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany’s commanding officer during his promotion ceremony, July 1, at the Marine Corps Logistics Command.
Col. James C. Carroll III was pinned by his wife, Shari Carroll, and Maj. Gen. Craig C. Crenshaw, commanding general, Marine Corps Logistics Command, as the promotion warrant was read.
“We will see if she has been practicing,” Crenshaw joked before he pinned Carroll.
Prior to the pinning, Crenshaw promised Carroll not to prolong his long-awaited promotion too much with an extended speech. However, before closing his brief remarks, he showered Carroll with accolades relating to the commanding officer’s career, his children and his wife.
“I have to start in one place when I think of my career and that is to thank God for allowing us to get to this particular point,” Carroll said.
He recognized his wife as a driving force behind his entire career.
“Shari, you really are the champion, you really are the star of this day because of all of your love and support,” Carroll said.
