“Are you ready to get muddy?”
Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany’s second annual Dirty Devil Dog Mud Run is scheduled for Saturday at Boyett Park aboard the base.
Runners can register the day of the race for $40, cash only, and a T-shirt is not guaranteed.
The Mud Run will introduce members of the community to a Marine Corps-style course run, complete with obstacles, challenges and plenty of mud.
Runners can expect to negotiate tires, ropes and other obstacles while they run, jump, crawl, climb, slog or slide through the mud.
The race will test the runner’s all-around toughness, strength, stamina, fitness and mental determination.
Unlike the 2012 Mud Run, which was a single race, there will be three races in this event including an individual race, a four-person team competition and a fun run.
Trophies will be awarded to the individual and team with the most creative costume.
All runners must sign a hold harmless waiver prior to participation, and there is no age requirement.
Runners younger than 18 must have parents or guardians sign their waivers, and parents/ guardians must accompany all children for the duration of the event.
Drivers without base access must have a current vehicle registration and insurance, along with a valid driver’s license upon entering the gate. Directions to the site will be provided.
In addition, the run will be an opportunity for members in the community to support the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s 2013 Toys for Tots campaign. All runners are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy.
