MARINE CORPS LOGISTICS BASE ALBANY --
Marine Corps Logistics Command’s Organization Development Office announces the implementation of a new and improved command channel, which will streamline information to different MCLC units throughout the Corps, beginning today.
The command channel is located in eight MCLC locations between Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany, Ga., Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, Calif., and Blount Island Command Marine Detachment Jacksonville, Fla.
“Since Marine Corps Logistics Command is a geographically dispersed command, this is a communication tool that allows us to connect the enterprise with special messaging or information that is relevant for the entire command,” Michael T. Madden, executive deputy, MCLC, said. “Broadcast-ing from the command channel allows the workforce in Albany, Barstow, and Jacksonville to see the products and services we provide to the Marine Corps and the people that make those possible.”
In addition to MCLC enterprise information, local, national and Marine Corps news will be broadcast. The channel also provides the capability to tailor information for specific locations, ensuring relevant information is passed in a timely manner.
Additional information will include newsletters relative to the respective commands, training and education announcements, as well as Department of Defense mandates.
“Although the command channel has been active for several years, this upgrade provides the capability to broadcast video, display multiple screens at one time, and increases the ability to customize and tailor presentations for specific audiences at targeted locations,” Donna Harris, director, ODO, MCLC, said.
The command channel’s information is managed by the content manager in ODO at MCLB Albany, Ga. The servers, which manage the hardware and software, are based in Colorado. Information is transmitted and received via secure network and streamed via air card, which is then displayed on high definition monitors in their respective locations.
