07/25/2013 -- The Albany Area Y is currently offering reduced corporate membership rates to Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany employees.
Both military and civilian employees can receive about 25 percent off regular rates on all membership categories by showing their military or base identification card.
Since the enacted furlough of civilian-Marines due to congressionally mandated budget reductions, community businesses, facilities and services in and around Albany have extended a hand to base employees during this difficult time.
The local Y is the latest to offer incentives, discounts and other options to base employees.
“This is just one of many examples of the type of relationship the base and local community share,” Col. Don Davis, commanding officer, Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany, said. “In times of difficulty and uncertainty, a community comes together and supports one another; that is exactly what is happening here. We are very appreciative of all the recent efforts local individuals and businesses have extended to our employees and are humbled being part of this community.”
