According to Culbreath, the Albany Rotary Club is a part of a world-wide civic and service organization. Locally, the organization funds literacy programs, United Way and other organizations. "We also give scholarships to outstanding graduates from all public and private high schools in Dougherty County,” Culbreath said. “It was my pleasure to have the Marine base represented today and I'm giving them an open invitation for future visits."

The Lee County School System and Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany recently enter into a memorandum of understanding. The agreement allows children of active-duty parents residing aboard the base to attend a Lee County school tuition-free. The agreement took effect this calendar school year.
