Albany Technical College was recently approved as a provider for the Department of Defense SkillBridge program, an opportunity for service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships or internships during the last 180 days of service. A memorandum of understanding was signed this week to that effect by Albany Tech President Emmett Griswold and Col. Matthew McKinney, commanding officer, Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany. During an emergency, it is critical that personnel, military family members and others aboard Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany receive immediate notifications. Whether it is an active shooter, tornado or other threat, it is crucial that all personnel are notified of the hazard and know what actions to take. Kevin Hannes, federal coordinating officer, Federal Emergency Management Agency’s National Incident Management Assistance Team - West, spoke at Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany, Jan. 31.He was joined by a group that included the individual assistance and hazard mitigation coordinators from FEMA and a representative from the U.S. Small Business Administration.
