April 24, 2015 -- The teams and players at Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany's Thomason Gym discussed a game plan quite different from what one would expect to hear at courtside, here, April 22.
Careers and education were the highlighted topics at the installation's Career and Education Fair, which was organized by the Personal and Professional Development team, according to Robin Gray, program manager, Transition Assistance Program, Marine Corps Community Services, MCLB Albany.
“The purpose of this activity is to connect employers, colleges and universities with qualified service members and family members as well,” Gray said. “We are reaching out to active-duty military, their families, veterans and all civilian and contractor employees aboard the base.”
“This is a part of what we do in the Personal and Professional Development Program,” Gray added. “(It) is a mandated requirement that we host annual career fairs. We have a Transition Readiness Program seminar that we conduct once a month as well as mandated seminars for spouses, which are conducted every other month.”
Gray commented on the significance of conducting the annual Career and Education Fair for all base personnel, particularly active-duty military.
“Now, with the drawdown of the military, we are hopeful to connect the service members who are getting out with employers or -- if they're interested in going to college -- to connect them with colleges and universities that are military-friendly schools and employers,” she explained.
Gray urged eligible persons to participate in future career fairs as well as other available TAP services.
