The Military Spouses’ Club of Albany is a nonprofit organization functioning largely within Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany. Its mission is to provide enrichment and support to military, military families and the Albany area community. One of the most visible signs of this has been the monthly Dinner at the Barracks events feeding dozens of young Marines residing in MCLB Albany’s barracks facility. Brooke Grossmann is one of two currently serving as a volunteer at the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society office at Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany. Located in the Base Headquarters building, the office is a place to receive financial, educational and other assistance. It is open to members of the Naval Services of the United States, eligible family members and survivors when in need. The U.S. Marine Corps placed an order last year for 21 mobile solar-powered electric vehicle charging systems. Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany was among those to benefit, receiving one unit. The Beam Global EV charging systems were purchased through the General Services Administration. Marine Corps Installations Command requires a turnkey charging infrastructure solution to solve near-term charging requirements without having to wait for construction and electrical projects to be completed. Tasha Thomas, corps officer, Salvation Army, gathered aboard Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany to formally kickoff the 75th annual Toys for Tots campaign, Oct. 3.Toys for Tots is the largest Department of Defense outreach program. It is a combined effort among the Marine Corps Reserves, local businesses and the Salvation Army to ensure less fortunate children have a Christmas this year. Sgt. Maj. Chad M. Coston is a second-generation Marine. He was raised in Louisiana and enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1994 with the expectation of getting out after his first four years were done. Now he is the sergeant major of Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany, making him the senior enlisted advisor to Col. Michael Fitzgerald, commanding officer, MCLB Albany.
