Col. James C. Carroll III, commanding officer, Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany, teaches a young man how to properly tie a necktie during the 5th annual “Ties that Bind” event. The mentoring event teaches young boys to tie a necktie while forming bonds with some of the community’s most distinguished leaders at the Phoebe Northwest Conference Center in Albany, Ga., June 15. The annual event, hosted by Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital’s Network of Trust School Health Program, selects 50 boys, mostly from homes without fathers, and pairs them with 50 local men. - Col. Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany police officers and active-duty service members represent the installation at Albany-Dougherty County’s annual 2017 Georgia Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, May 16. Lt. Delaney Bourlakov, adjutant, MCLB Albany, carried the ceremonial torch and led the run with fellow-Marine comrades and Marine Corps Police Department personnel in the early morning kickoff and the 5k run, which followed.
