Lee County Junior Leadership Academy toured Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany with Anthony Wade, operations and plans specialist, May 9.Immediately after the tour, the academy met with MCLB Albany leaders Lt. Col. Christian Felder, executive officer, MCLB Albany; Terry Whitaker, director of small business, Marine Corps Logistics Command; Kurt Bland, deputy director, Communications and Information Systems Division; and George Lampkin, director of C4, LOGCOM. The project demonstrates a commitment to camaraderie and physical fitness, and officially opened up for use on Thursday after 20 days of construction. The Atlanta Chapter 5 and Warner Robins Chapter 35 visited Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany, May 1. The Child Development Center and Family Advocacy Program teamed up to hold an event to recognize Child Abuse Prevention Month at the Covella Pond Amphitheater at Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany, April 18.This event was organized to spread awareness of the importance of being alert and mindful of child safety. Remarks were given by MCLB Albany Commanding Officer Col. Michael Fitzgerald, Courtny Girley of Georgia Division of Family and Children Services, and Dougherty Juvenile Court Chief Judge Herbie Solomon. The Military Spouses’ Club of Albany is a nonprofit organization functioning largely within Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany. Its mission is to provide enrichment and support to military, military families and the Albany area community. One of the most visible signs of this has been the monthly Dinner at the Barracks events feeding dozens of young Marines residing in MCLB Albany’s barracks facility.
