05/16/2013 -- To help area business leaders expand their professional development and teambuilding skills, Marine Corps Logistics Command hosted a Leadership Albany Day aboard Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany, recently.
Established in 1984, Leadership Albany, Inc. is a non-profit organization with the purpose of educating, preparing and inspiring leaders to address the challenges facing the Albany area, according to the website, http://la/clubexpress.com.
Each 30-student class is diverse with leaders from different genders, ethnic backgrounds and professions.
“Leadership Albany is among the most comprehensive community leadership training programs available,” R.D. Harter, director, Public Information, Doughtery County School System, said. “The curriculum provides a thorough education about community government, industry, services, business and education.”
MCLC hosted the event, which gave the Albany leaders an inside look on operations and activities aboard the installation. The leaders received a tour of Production Plant Albany, a brief on MCLC’s general operations and a live-fire demonstration at the Pistol Range.
“Leadership Albany was one of the greatest things in my development as a leader and a new person in the community,” Kevin Hils, zoo director, Chehaw Park, said.
Marines and Civilian-Marines here were afforded the opportunity to impart knowledge and demonstrate leadership principles from a Marine Corps perspective through showcasing operations and daily life aboard the installation.
