Officials at Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany celebrated a milestone more than a decade in the making on May 24 when they publicly announced that the installation recently became the first in the Department of Defense to accomplish Net Zero for energy. Among those at the ceremony to mark the achievement was Marine Corps Commandant Gen. David Berger, Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Energy, Installations and Environment Meredith Berger and MCLB Albany Commanding Officer Col. Michael Fitzgerald. The event also included employee recognition, a press conference, a tour of the base's energy facilities and an announcement of the Department of the Navy's Climate Action 2030.
