Dan Gillan, retired Marine colonel, marked the opening of the city's annual Law Enforcement Memorial Week Ceremony with musical bagpipes selections during presentation and posting of the colors, and ended the commemoration by playing the hymn, “Amazing Grace.” The event, which was held at Albany State University’s L. Orene Hall, recently, is an annual observance to honor the sacrifices of police officers who died in the line of duty.
