June 20, 2016 -- ALBANY, Georgia – Cmdr. Raymond Bristol was relieved as officer-in-charge of Naval Branch Health Clinic-Albany, Georgia, by Lt. Cmdr. Kenneth Shaw III in a change-of-charge ceremony at the Chapel of the Good Shepherd, aboard Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany, June 15.
Bristol, who assumed OIC duties in June 2013, previously served as director for administration at Naval Hospital Beaufort, South Carolina.
“It’s through the work of each staff member, each day, that we accomplish our mission of providing safe, high quality, patient-centered care,” Bristol said.
Bristol thanked his family, Naval Hospital Jacksonville, Florida, leadership and commended his staff for being the best Navy medicine has to offer.
A native of Adel, Georgia, Bristol entered active duty service in 1984. He served as a general duty corpsman and preventive medicine technician for 14 years, achieving the rank of senior chief hospital corpsman, before being commissioned as an ensign in the Medical Service Corps in 1998.
As an MSC officer, Bristol has held positions such as patient administration officer at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, Virginia; medical division officer and radiation health officer aboard USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75); business operations officer and plans, operations, and medical intelligence officer at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth; medical placement officer at Navy Personnel Command and director for administration at NH Beaufort, South Carolina.
Shaw, a native of Chelmsford, Massachusetts, is NBHC-Albany’s newest OIC, after a successful tour as associate director for administration at NH Pensacola, Florida.
Shaw acknowledged the exceptionally high standards set by Bristol and vowed to continue to lead NBHC Albany to future success.
“I am honored to be a part of Naval Hospital Jacksonville’s team,” Shaw said.
Naval Branch Health Clinic-Albany, Georgia, is one of NH Jacksonville’s six health care facilities located across Florida and Georgia.
Celebrating its 75th Anniversary this year, NH Jacksonville's priority since its founding in 1941 is to heal the nation’s heroes and their families.
The command is comprised of the Navy's third largest hospital and five branch health clinics across Florida and Georgia. Of its patient population (163,000 active and retired Sailors, soldiers, Marines, airmen, guardsmen and their families), roughly 85,000 are enrolled with a primary care manager and Medical Home Port team at one of its facilities.
