The Albany Area Chamber of Commerce named Peggy Haire, program analyst, Logistics Services Management Center, Marine Corps Logistics Command, the 2016 Ambassador of the Year during their 106th annual meeting held at the Hilton Garden Inn and Conference Center in downtown Albany, Georgia, Jan. 21.

According to the Chamber of Commerce's website, www.albanyga.com, Ambassadors are volunteers who serve as the welcome arm of the Chamber by welcoming new members and promoting member involvement.  Ambassadors represent the Chamber at ribbon cuttings, ground breakings, Star Business of the Week and other networking events such as Business After Hours and Rise and Shine Breakfasts.

Haire said she enjoys volunteering and being named Ambassador of the Year by the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce left her speechless.

“It’s a wonderful feeling to know that people appreciate the things you do for them and follow up by rewarding you for your efforts,” Haire said.  Servant leadership is my gift and it is always my goal to help others in whatever capacity I can.”

Her boss was enlisted to help pull off the surprise and said he could not be more proud of her.

“Peggy is a great lady with remarkable talent, heart and spirit. I could not think of a better person to be the Ambassador of the Year," Mike Williamson, director, LSMC, LOGCOM said. “She embodies everything that you might expect of a star performer. I would go out of my way to seek her out to be on my team for anything.

“I hope my daughter grows up to have the kind of can-do attitude and heart for helping others that (she) does,” he said. “I wish I could bottle up and sell her smile because it's worth a million bucks.”
