Albany’s top leader, Sharon Subadan, city manager, recently spent
an afternoon learning about the “city” inside the fence line that is home to
Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany and Marine Corps Logistics Command.
Following a round of office calls with the commanding
officer of MCLB Albany and LOGCOM, a windshield tour and a visit to Marine
Depot Maintenance Command, Subadan said she was very impressed with her visit
and learned a lot about the economic impact her city’s largest employer has and
what makes them so important to this community.
“I had a wonderful visit and really enjoyed meeting with the
leaders and was particularly impressed with the logistics operations,” she
said. “To see the magnitude of the work that is being done there in support of
the war efforts, the like-mindedness of the leadership and the opportunity to
dialogue about how we can work together to make the community better was
great.”
Col. James Carroll III, commanding officer, MCLB Albany,
said he too was impressed with Subadan’s experiences and vision for the community
and downtown.
“Her visit was a wonderful opportunity to continue to
build upon the strong relationship that exists between the installation and the
local community,” he said. “It was an absolute pleasure hosting (Subadan) for a
tour of the base and learning more about her strategic vision for the city.”
Subadan added, “They (base
leaders) are both new to the city like I am and have experienced the same warmth
and welcome that I have. We all have a desire to make the community a better
place.”
