Held at the installation’s Town and Country Restaurant Grand Ballroom, top readers in four different age groups received trophies and all of the participants received certificates as their parents watched or photographed them. A pool party for the children at the base’s pool followed the awards ceremony.

Officials award children for reading accomplishments

Children sang, danced and clapped during festivities honoring their achievement of reading 1,806 books during Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany’s 2015 Summer Reading Program awards ceremony, Aug. 22.

Held at the installation’s Town and Country Restaurant Grand Ballroom, top readers in four different age groups received trophies and all of the participants received certificates as their parents watched or photographed them.

Guest speaker for the event, Verda L. Parker, public affairs specialist, Public Affairs Office, and Ryan Rachels, library technician, Library, presented the awards and praised the children for their accomplishments.

A pool party for the children at the base’s pool followed the awards ceremony.
