July 22, 2015 -- More than 20 reservists with Detachment 2, Supply Company, Combat Logistics Battalion-451, from Anacostia, Washington, D.C.; and 4th Civil Affairs Group from Miami, Florida, honed their supply warehouse skills during training aboard Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany, July 22.
The reservists conducted their annual two-week training with General Account and Storage Operations Facility, Marine Forces Reserve G-4 Supply Marines, according to Cpl. Philip Mason, shipping noncommissioned officer-in-charge, who’s a member of that unit.
During the July 23 training session, Mason instructed the reservists on their individual combat equipment — Marine Corps packs, sleeping bags and plate carriers.
“The units (were) sent here to us this summer for military occupational training in supply,” Mason said. “At their warehouses back home they store this gear and this training makes them familiar with the gear, the components to the gear and the use of the gear because they could hypothetically be deployed or need to issue the gear out. With issuing the gear out, they need to be familiar with it.”
Lance Cpl. Kimberly Jimenez, a supply warehouse clerk with Det. 2, Supply Co., CLB-451, and full-time student at Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Virginia, characterized the training as very helpful.
“We learned how to put it together, how it works and when we issue it out, (we can) teach other Marines how to put it together and what the gear is used for,” Jimenez, who’s been a reservist for three years, said.
