Thirty members of the Colquitt County High School Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps Summer Leadership Camp returned to Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany for their second visit, July 23.

This time they took their fitness training to a higher level with the High Intensity Tactical Training.

"We like to come to the base as many times a year as possible to challenge the cadets,” Gunnery Sgt. Emmett Bryant, military instructor, CCHS, said. “We wanted to see where they were in their fitness levels going into the new school year."

Col. James C. Carroll III, commanding officer, MCLB Albany, spoke with the cadets and encouraged them to continue to cherish the investment in their education and never lose sight of that.

"Leadership is not a position, it is a choice,” Carroll said. “I challenge each of you to set the example and lead from where you are. Speak up in class, at camp, in sports or wherever you are. I also salute your instructors who informed me earlier this is their 20th year with this program.  I encourage you to push hard, train hard and go out there and have fun today."
