The American flag in front of Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany’s Coffman Hall was temporarily lowered for maintenance, June 17.

After Marines lowered the flag, a local company moved in quickly to investigate and repair the issue.

Bubba Hart, technician, Facility Improvement Services, was hoisted approximately 85 feet in the air to get a closer look at the flag pole. Hart worked quickly in the intense heat to identify the problem.

“We plan to find the problem and have this repaired before the end of the day today,” Jeff Fowler, site safety health officer, FIS, said.

After investigating, a broken pulley mechanism was deemed to be the issue. The part was replaced and the American flag was raised again before close of business.
