June 2, 2015 -- Naval Hospital Jacksonville, Florida — its hospital and five naval branch health clinics — Navy Operational Support Center Jacksonville, Operational Health Support Unit Headquarters Jacksonville and 10 OHSU detachments have earned the 2014 Blue-H Navy Surgeon General's Health Promotion and Wellness Award.
“Receiving the Blue-H award is an honor and a testament to the hard work and dedication of our active-duty and reserve units, who provide world-class care to our nation’s heroes — past and present — and their families,’” Capt. John Le Favour, commanding officer, NH Jacksonville, said. “Fostering a culture of safe, high reliability and providing superior service is essential to meeting our goals and exceeding expectations each and every day.”
The hospital, NBHC Jacksonville, NOSC Jacksonville, OHSU Headquarters Jacksonville, and OHSU detachments (E, G, J, N, O, P, R) each received the highest recognition — Gold Star level. NBHC Kings Bay, Georgia; NBHC Mayport, Florida; and OHSU detachments (D and Q) received the Silver Eagle and NBHC Albany, Georgia; NBHC Key West, Florida; and OHSU detachment K received the Bronze Anchor.
The Blue-H award recognizes excellence in clinical primary prevention services, community health promotion and medical staff health. The award assesses health topics such as alcohol abuse prevention, injury prevention, nutrition, physical activity, psychological health, sexual health, tobacco cessation and weight management.
Only 342 Navy and Marine Corps active and reserve units were selected for the prestigious Blue-H Award this year.
