The Young Marines of Albany, Georgia, stepped up to the plate and volunteered their support to the Marine Corps League 1260 and Post 30, May 23.

They helped mark the Albany Mall field where they placed flags and crosses in memory of fallen service members, who dedicated their lives to protect and serve our country and paid the ultimate price.

The YMs also honored fallen Marine, Lance Cpl. Steven G. Sutton, Leesburg, Georgia, who lost his life in the line of duty, while conducting combat operations in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, May 26, 2012.

Sutton’s father, Gene, said he still feels hurt by the loss of his son three years ago, but feels encouraged that Steven’s death was not without a purpose and he died while completing his life’s mission.
