Enlisted Spouses’ Club hosts annual Formal Wear Exchange Event

25 Sep 2014 | Danesha Aikens Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany

Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany’s Enlisted Spouses’ Club will host its 3rd annual Formal Wear Exchange Event, Oct. 5 at the Conference Center, also known as the Maj. S. P. “Swede” Officers’ Club.

The event will take place between 2-5 p.m. and is open to all active-duty spouses.

Nov. 10, 1775, is historically marked and recognized as the Marines Corps’ official birthday, and every year, around that date, the service’s units, bases and installations around the globe celebrate with the Marine Corps Birthday Ball and a cake-cutting ceremony.

Spouses are escorted by their service members, and the occasion is usually one they always remember.

The ESC is an organization, which unites MCLB Albany’s active and retired spouses around the themes of friendship and community awareness, displaying empathy and appreciation for the unique lifestyle shared by spouses of service members.

Like during previous years and past formal wear exchange events, the ESC would like to solicit donations of new or gently-used formal wear for this year’s Marine Corps Birthday Ball.

The program in place allows for the loan of formal wear items, specifically for the ball, to be worn, then cleaned and returned by the borrower within five days after the ball.

In the event an item is damaged, the borrower would have to pay the price indicated on the agreement signed during the initial loan contract.

This affords spouses an opportunity to pick out the perfect formal wear for the ball without spending a fortune or having to hassle with shopping at multiple locations and/or traveling out of town.
