Maj. Gen. John J. Broadmeadow, commanding general, Marine Corps Logistics Command, hosted the inaugural Operational-Level Logistics Operational Advisory Group aboard Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany, Georgia, recently.

Attendees included senior representatives from the Marine Corps Component Commands (Marine forces), Headquarters Marine Corps, Marine Corps Systems Command and the Marine Corps Logistics Operations Group.

Broadmeadow’s intent was to conduct both an educational and impactful OAG to address broad and tangible issues critical to enabling operational-level logistics at the MARFOR level.  During this inaugural OAG, challenges were identified and addressed with the goal of developing recommended solutions to be provided to the deputy commandant, Installation and Logistics through the logistics advocacy framework.

The agenda for the OAG included plenary sessions to discuss key concepts and programs, MARFOR operational-level logistics issues and challenges, as well as break out groups to develop recommended solutions for identified issues.

LOGCOM personnel briefed the attendees on the operational-level capabilities and activities of the command, specifically the Distribution Management Center, Marine Depot Maintenance Command Production Plant Albany and the Logistics Services Management Center.

“We believe the inaugural Operational-Level Logistics OAG was a success,” Luis Garza, deputy director, Future Operations Division, LOGCOM, said. “Through this venue, we are providing an effective voice for the MARFORs.

“Specifically, we were able to establish and validate current operational-level logistics community priorities, refine operational-level logistics roles and responsibilities across the Marine Corps logistics enterprise in support of the MARFORs, develop a relevant and consistent message both internal and external to the Marine Corps, and set the stage to further promote coordination and direct interaction between the operating forces, Headquarters Marine Corps, Supporting Establishment, and other service, joint and Department of Defense stakeholders,” he said.
