Vacationers who are planning an ultimate summer trip or a spur-of-the-moment getaway can get a head start at Marine Corps Community Services’ Information, Tickets and Tours’ 16th annual Travel and Recreation Trade Show at Thomason Gymnasium here, March 19 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

The free travel show is open to all base personnel, retirees and their family members.

More than 35 different exhibitors will be on hand, representing attractions, hotels, conventions and visitors bureaus and more.

Information will be available on tourist and vacation destinations, dinner shows and historical sites throughout the region.

“The purpose of the travel show is to provide information on a variety of vacation destinations,” Sue Truver, manager, Information, Tickets and Tours, MCCS, MCLB Albany, said. “This is a great opportunity for people, especially those who are new to Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany, to learn more about  our local area and other areas of interest.

“The vendors, who will display or hand out brochures, will be available to answer any questions attendees may have,” she added.

Many vendors’ discounted tickets are sold at Information, Tickets and Tours.

In addition to learning about new destinations to visit, attendees can also register for numerous door prizes.

Winners do not need to be present when drawings are held and will be notified by the Information, Tickets and Tours office to claim their prizes.

According to Virginia Cruz, quality control inspector, Distribution Management Office, Logistics Support Division, MCLB Albany, she uses the brochures from the travel show to plan vacations throughout the year.

“Spending time with my family is very important to me,” Cruz said. “Everybody is busy, so I use the brochures to help make the most of our time together.”

In addition, the Marine Corps Birthday Ball Committee for Detachment 2, Inspector and Instructor Staff, will be selling hotdogs, hamburgers, bratwurst, chips and drinks at the event.
