MARINE CORPS LOGISTICS BASE ALBANY, Ga. -- Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany and Marine Corps Logistics Command Family Readiness Officers are currently focused on two important family readiness issues - reminding Marines they must update their family readiness data on Marine Online no later than Feb. 25 and encouraging their spouses to help with the Family Readiness Program.
Marcus White, MCLB Albany FRO, and Valerie McCarley, Logistics Command FRO, request the communities comply with Marine Administrative Message 076/11, Implementation of Marine Online Mass Communication Solution.
It’s important to update family readiness contact information on Marine Online so Marines and their families “can be in the loop in terms of receiving information from the command (such as) Marine readiness, emergency-type issues and keeps them in the loop about events and activities, family enrichment, family recreational opportunities and personal finance advice,” White said.
The Personal and Family Readiness Division has partnered with the Manpower Information Systems Division to implement a mass communication solution via Marine Online for use by commanders and Family Readiness Officers to more effectively communicate family readiness notifications with their Marines, spouses and families, according to the MARADMIN.
The MOL solution replaced the Mass Communication Tool. White and McCarley will use Marine Online to pass official communication and information.
The following procedures should be completed by military personnel no later than Feb. 25 and within 10 days of checking into a new unit.
Marines are required to provide the following information for each family readiness contact: first name, last name, zip code, e-mail address and contact’s role.

“My husband encourages me to look online for updates, events and to see if our information is correct,” said Rebecca Regan, Family Readiness assistant for MCLB Albany.
She and her husband, Master Sgt. Michael Regan, have three children, ages 4, 8 and 12.
Kia Sloan, another Family Readiness assistant for MCLB Albany, said she likes Marine Online. She and her husband, Gunnery Sgt. Fredrick Sloan, have two children.
Nicole King started volunteering with the base’s Family Readiness Program in the beginning of this year.
She and her husband, Sgt. Jessee King, have three children, ages 2, 3 and 5. She noted she joined to stay busy and help other spouses by providing “information and resources they need to have a better stay here.”
Between them, the three wives have a lot of military experience and hoped others will join the Family Readiness Command Team, especially those who are new to the military.
White said there are five volunteers and about 10 more would help.
“We would like to encourage other spouses to join,” Sloan said. “The family readiness team is like another team if (husbands are) deployed and (we) can help (spouses) and point them in the right direction, a strong go-to team to get advice, etc., from (because we understand) what it is their husbands have to do.”
