MCA receives Manufacturer of the Year

Maintenance Center Albany received the Manufacturer of the Year Award from Albany Technical College at a ceremony held here, Monday.

The award was presented by Albany Technical College president Dr. Anthony Parker who said MCA was an essential part of the Albany community.

“I am pleased that MCA has allowed ATC to maintain our long-term commitment to make [Marine Corps Logistics Base] an integral part of our community,” he said.

Col. Terry W. Reid, commander, MCA, accepted the award in front of a large crowd of Marine Corps Logistics Command, base and local civilian officials.

“This award belongs to the dedicated Marines and civilian Marines of this facility,” he said. “What we do is important, and we don’t do it for recognition, we do it because Marines’ lives depend on us.”

In 2006, ATC developed the Business Logistics Management program and has frequently trained many of MCA’s artisans.

According to Albany Technical College’s mission statement, it has developed diploma and degree programs in Business Logistics Management to provide qualified employees for MCA.

In addition, the college has, in the past, accelerated specific training to support the operational tempo of MCA’s retrofit of war-fighting equipment.

“Our mission is to provide our warfighters with simply the best equipment available,” Reid said. “Albany Technical College has played a big role in helping us provide that equipment.”

Between 2006 and 2009, MCA was the largest vehicle assembler in the state of Georgia.

“Albany Technical College is pleased to provide this honor to MCA and looks forward to our continued partnership,” Parker said. “With this honor, we hope to demonstrate the level of support we should all share in this community for this vital partner.”
