Beginning in January 2010, The Emblem newspaper will undergo several changes. -- These changes reflect additional skills and knowledge applied from the Defense Information School at Fort Meade, Md.
“The purpose of the redesign is to enhance readership and give the newspaper a modern look,” said 1st Lt. Caleb Eames, public affairs officer, Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany, Ga. “The last time The Emblem was redesigned was in January 2001.”
The biggest change will be the front page of The Emblem.
The redesign will begin with the flag The Marine Corps’ 1925 emblem will be kept as part of the heritage and image of Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany.
This new flag will clarify that the newspaper belongs to Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany, Ga., identify the community it serves and mark the year the base was established.
Readers will also see some changes in the teaser box and weather box that are currently found at the top of the front page.
These boxes will be integrated into one box at the bottom of the front page to help eliminate some of the congestion near the flag.
The new paper will also reference our two social media sites; Twitter and Facebook, that MCLB Albany has recently initiated. These sites were established so readers may follow upcoming events and late-breaking news from the base on a day-to-day basis.
