Commandant of the Marine Corps to promote former LOGCOM CG at MCLB Albany

The Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. James T. Conway, is scheduled to promote Maj. Gen. Willie J. Williams to the rank of lieutenant general during a ceremony here Tuesday, Aug. 11, at 4 p.m.

The Secretary of Defense announced Monday that the president nominated Williams to serve as director, Marine Corps Staff, and appointed him to the rank of lieutenant general.

Conway and Williams will be travelling to MCLB Albany for the promotion ceremony from Washington, D.C., where Williams is now stationed.

Williams served as LOGCOM’s commanding general here from June 17, 2005 to June 29, 2009.

Media wishing to cover the event should coordinate with the base public affairs office Tuesday before noon.
