MARINE CORPS LOGISTICS BASE ALBANY -- Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany has once again partnered with the Dougherty County School System's International Studies Elementary School for their Adopt-A-School mentorship program.
Marines partnered with their teacher in a kickoff event held at the school gymnasium, September 4.
Marines will be involved with their classroom and students at least once every two weeks, helping with hands-on engagement.
MCLB Albany Commanding Officer Col. Matthew J. McKinney says "we are excited to partner with International Studies Elementary Charter School and their leaders and teachers to adopt the local public school, provide our Marine volunteers as human resources to enrich the school, and create a bond to enhance educational experiences for our students. This partnership further affirms our commitment to the community, fosters good community relations, positively impacts student achievement and increases public awareness of the Marine Corps mission and the character of our Marines."
