In an hour-long change of command ceremony on Schmid Field, Col. James C. Carroll III, outgoing commanding officer, Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany, relinquished command to Col. Alphonso Trimble, incoming commanding officer, May 24.

Carroll assumed command of MCLB Albany in 2015 and will depart for a new assignment in the Office of the Secretary of Defense at the Pentagon.  Trimble, who is not new to Georgia, but is to Albany, is coming from his post as Secretary of the General Staff at the Pentagon.

“It’s been a great tour and the community relationships we’ve built here, friends we’ve made and the workforce has made our three years phenomenal,” Carroll said.  “We were able to accomplish some great things here with our energy and safety initiatives, not to mention recovering from a massive tornado.  My mantra has always been to win to the end and I felt we’ve done that.”

Trimble said he looks forward to his tour here and continuing to build upon the great things that are already in place.
