Blount Island Command and Marine Corps Support Facility Blount Island in Jacksonville, Fla., were recognized as Voluntary Protection Programs Star sites by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration during a ceremony, Oct. 16. Marine Corps, Navy and Veterans Affairs officials marked the VA Community-Based Outpatient Clinic’s opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany, Friday. The VA clinic, formerly located on West Broad Avenue in Albany, Georgia, is now co-located inside the Naval Branch Health Clinic Albany in Building 7000. Through a joint effort, veterans will receive primary care and ancillary services, such as audiology, podiatry and optometry. Additional specialty health care services, including mental health, will be provided in Building 7200, adjacent to NBHC Albany.

Awe-Inspiring Showmanship Battle Color Detachment Plans Big Return to MCLB

Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany officials are planning to host the Marine Corps Battle Color ceremony here, March 17 at 1 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Comprised of three performing ceremonial units from Marine Barracks Washington, D.C., the Marine Corps Color Guard, the Silent Drill Platoon and the Drum & Bugle Corps, seen performing here in 2011 at Schmid Field, make up the Battle Color Detachment. Each year, the BCD travels to every clime and place, performing for hundreds of thousands of spectators.

Battle Color Detachment scheduled to perform at MCLB Albany

The United States Marine Corps Battle Color Detachment is scheduled to perform March 19 at 10 a.m. at the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany. The event is free and open to the public. The Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany, Ga., commanding officer, Col. Don Davis, will be the reviewing officer for the event. The Battle Color Detachment, travelling from 8th & I Marine Barracks, Washington, D.C., is comprised of the U.S. Marine Drum and Bugle Corps, known as "The Commandant's Own;" the Marine Corps' Silent Drill Platoon; and the Marine Corps' Color Guard. The U.S. Marine Drum and Bugle Corps will play their mix of contemporary/patriotic music and display traditional marching, and the precision of the Silent Drill Platoon is expected to be the crescendo of the event. The annual performance provides members of the local and surrounding communities, base personnel, local officials and leaders, and Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps units from around the Southwest United States an opportunity to see an outstanding ensemble of musical and drill performance excellence. From the youngest JROTC member, to the oldest spectator, the Battle Color Ceremony will evoke pride and awe, and project the honor, courage and commitment of the United States military, past and present.
