MARINE CORPS LOGISTICS BASE ALBANY --
One hundred percent chance of mud is in the forecast for Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany’s second Dirty Devil Dog Mud Run, which is scheduled for Nov. 16 at Boyett Park aboard the base.
The event is open to the general public.
“More than 550 people participated in the event last year and we hope to have more than 1,000 this year,” Bob James, deputy director, Operations and Training Division, MCLB Albany, said.
The Mud Run will introduce members of the community to a Marine Corps-style course run, complete with obstacles, challenges and plenty of mud.
Runners can expect to negotiate tires, ropes and other obstacles while they run, jump, crawl, climb, slog or slide through the mud.
Unlike the 2012 Mud Run, which was a single race, there will be three races this year including individual, team and a fun run.
The individual race will begin at 10 a.m. and medals will be awarded to the top three winners in both male and female categories.
The team race, which must consist of four people, will start at 11 a.m. and trophies will be awarded to the top three teams. The fun run will begin at noon and is for all other participants.
Trophies will also be awarded to the individual and team with the most creative costume.
The deadline to register for the Mud Run is Nov. 5. Early entry fee is $30 if registered prior to Nov. 5. Late registration may be made at www.active.com only, through Nov. 9, for a fee of $40. Participants can register on site the day of the event beginning at 9 a.m. for $40, cash only.
