EDINBURGH, Scotland -- The Albany Marine Band arrived here late July 26 following an exhausting two days of travel to prepare for performances in the 2002 Edinburgh Military Tattoo that begins this week.
Following an intensive week of rehearsal, the band will perform throughout the three weeks of performances that event organizers say are close to sold out. More than 250,000 spectators will view the event live, with a worldwide television audience estimated at 100 million.
The U.S. Marines' presence will greatly increase during several performances next week when the U.S. Marine Corps Battle Color Detachment joins the cast of more than 1,000 performers.
