Feb 25, 2016
Albany resident Henry Jackson is another forerunner in African-Amercian history and is an icon at Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany. Jackson, a World War II veteran and retired U.S. Air Force master sergeant, is one of the original Montford Point Marines. He has left his mark in history as one of the first African-American Marines to attend basic training at Montford Point, North Carolina, during the period between 1942 and 1949, an accomplishment which has earned him the prestigious Congressional Gold Medal.
