To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War, Defense Commissary Agency became partners of the Vietnam War Veterans Commemorative Partnership Program in March 2013.  
Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany unveiled the newly designed Department of Defense flag during a ceremony in front of its Commissary, today. A decision was made to create a memorial ceremony at each commissary worldwide during the Veterans Day weekend from November 9 - 11, 2013.  
J. D. Armstrong was the honoree at today's ceremony. Armstrong devoted "20 years and one week" of service in the U.S. Navy. After the presentation of the commemorative flag, the base commander, Col. Don J. Davis, thanked him for his service and sacrifice to the country.
