Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany leadership hosted a Women's Equality Day luncheon to celebrate the 1920 passage of the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote, August 30. The anniversary of that adoption is officially observed on August 26. Organizers displayed several posters dating back to 2003 showing off the eras in which the Department of Defense has supported the national holiday. Several active-duty military families held the second annual International Evening under the Stars at Lincoln Military Housing on the base, August 25. Several military families and their children kept their brains energized over the summer by reading dozens of books as part of the annual summer reading program. More than 100 readers ranging from pre-school to adults completed more than 83,000 minutes of reading.
