The general public is invited to Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany’s first “Dirty Devil Dog Mud Run,” Saturday, Nov. 17, at Boyett Park on base. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the race kicks off at 10 a.m. Early entry fee is $25 if registered by Nov. 12; after that the fee is $30. Participants can register on site the day of the event. Registration fee includes a long-sleeved T-shirt (guaranteed for every participant registered by Nov. 12), a participation medallion, hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks after the race. Runners can register online at www.active.com. The Mud Run is not a race, but rather a 3-mile fun run that will introduce members of the community to a Marine Corps-style course run, complete with obstacles, challenges and plenty of mud. All runners must sign a hold harmless waiver prior to participation, and there is no age requirement. Runners younger than 18 must have a parent or guardian sign their waiver, and parents/guardians must accompany all children for the duration of the event. Drivers without base access must have a current vehicle registration and insurance, and a valid driver’s license upon entering the gate. Directions to the site will be provided. In addition, the Dirty Devil Dog Mud Run will be an opportunity for members in the community to support the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s 2012 Toys for Tots campaign. All runners are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy for the Toys for Tots bin that will be on hand. For more information, call 229-639-7935.
